Boots haul & first impressions/review.

Hey guys,

If you remember from my last post, I mentioned how I had ordered some goodies from boots. Well they came a few days after and figured I would review the products for you. I have only really tested some out however, with the others I will give my first impressions. So let's get started.

The items that I purchased are:
NYX wicked lippies in stone cold and betrayal.
NYX lingerie liquid lipstick in beauty mark.
NYX white liquid liner.
Barry M illuminating strobing cream in iced bronze and frosty pink.
I also got a free sample from revlon, their Foundation in the shade sand beige.

NYX Wicked Lippies -

I haven't had a purpose to wear these but I just fancied a couple of lipsticks that were out of my comfort zone. To be completely honest, I have wanted to try these for a couple of weeks now but never had the guts. But to decide on the colours I applied some normal lipstick (any colour) and then patted on some eyeshadow that were similar to the colours that I wanted to try. By doing this you can see if these 'unusual' colours will suit you. I figured purple was a good option and the black because well... That's an easier colour from the range. These lipsticks are nice and soft however quite sheer but very pigmented at the same time. With one swipe you can see the colour quite boldly but you have to apply another layer so that it is opaque. This applies more to the black shade than the purple as you can imagine. But they do glide on the lips nicely so you can't complain. The formula is in no way drying although I did only swatch them and take them off to try the others. My favourite thing about the whole collection is that they are metallic. I think this makes the colours even more interesting and different. But I guess you have to be willing to wear these out in public. I still have the challenge of this t hopefully will have done it by the time this post uploads. I must say the downside to these lipsticks is the fact that they transfer REALLY easily. I will leave a picture to show. I think if you're just using these for Halloween and not everyday wear, it doesn't matter much, as you wont be eating as much at night rather than throughout the day time. I also do prefer the purple (despite it being slightly less softer than the black) because when you rub your lips together it doesn't leave a mark where as I find the black does slightly.
Overall, I do like these however I would prefer it if they had a lot more staying power. But for £5.50, you can't really complain.

NYX lingerie liquid lipstick in beauty mark -

I had been on the hunt for a nude lipstick which is able to go with many, many outfits. Yet I still wanted something quite dark, just because I think they suit me more, like dark reds/purples. So I watched many YouTube reviews and swatches just to decide on the shade that I wanted. Even though it is only £6.50, if I had two, it would bring up the cost of the whole order and I didn't want to spend too much. Anyway, this is a liquid lipstick and I love it. The colour is gorgeous and personally I adore it. I know a few people who have seen it don't really like it that much but hey, its not for them:). I have a love-hate relationship with the applicator as it is nice and long so you have that control however the shape is slightly thinner than normal. I do still like it though. The only advice I have is, don't apply too much! You only need one layer otherwise it feels like you have melted chocolate all over your lips - Not good. I think if the formula was the same as the bourjoir lipsticks, it would be perfect. Again, for £6.50 you cant really complain. I do want to try a slightly lighter shade of brown which will probably be from the same collection, and maybe the formula is different so I will keep you updated.

NYX White Liquid Liner.

I was looking at the NYX vivid brights eyeliners and I was going to get the purple one however I thought if I got the normal white version, I could practise with adding the extra colour. And I am very happy I did. I love the results. How there is a contrast between white and black yet it doesn't look too much. The only issue I have with this product is that it cracks. Which is kind of bad... Although for this post I tested it out fully with a wing and I think it looks okay, but because it cracks I don't think I will buy it again. There are definitely other eye liners which don't crack, however if you know of any good liquid white eyeliners, please let me know. So overall, I think much of the product but it does its job. Maybe I just got a funny one but I'm not that impressed. I am going to try and add a drop of water to it and see if that makes a difference but I doubt it.
I used this to create three different looks - shown below.

Barry M illuminating strobing cream in iced bronze and frosty pink -

I saw this I think on Velvet Ghost's video although I cant seem to find the video. But I was wanting a wider range of makeup in my collection as I only really had the necessities, so I was willing to give this a go for myself. I had it ready in my basket for the few weeks where I was debating on the colours of lipsticks, and then when I had finally chosen...it was out of stock. EVERYWHERE. Amazon, Superdrug, Boots, Asos etc. I checked every single website. Then when in town with a friend I saw it in store so when I got home I immidiatly added it straight to my basket.

I love this! Sure, it's not as pigmented as a high end but its good for its money. It is subtle but I think it is also buildable. I really, really like it. I do recommend for any new commers to makeup. I bought both shades but I have no idea which is my favourite. I think the iced bronze is definitely more pigmented but the frosty pink is more natural. So I guess it depends on the look you want to achieve.

Revlon Colour Stay foundation -

As for this lovely free gift, I also quite like this. I wore it for a whole day and by the end of it, I noticed that all the foundation was still there, when as most (for me) come off during the day because I have more of an oily skin type. They gave me the shade sand beige and it was quite a good match, which is lucky I guess! I think I will buy a full version of this and try it several times because I think it is good and I think the foundation and I will get on nicely:).
Obviously I only had enough to wear this for one day but from that day I was impressed. Although when I run out of my current foundation I will purchase this and let you guys know whether it is worth a buy.

That's it for this post. I hope you enjoyed it and found it in someway useful.

Tips on how to relax.

Hey guys,

So I was planning on doing a favourites post however I shall wait until the start of July and do a June favourites post. Mainly because I have just (literally just) ordered some makeup from boots and that will most likely be included. I also have a film that I need to watch so that will probably included.

Also, I must mention that despite saying last week that I would pre-write posts... I haven't with this one. I don't even have an excuse because it's not like I have been super busy. Although, this is being written at 12:15pm so I might actually get some sleep tonight.

When you're reading this it will be Father's Day - in the UK anyway. So happy father's day!
(actually just had a nap so it is actually as late as it normally is.. oops.)

Anyway, I guess I ought to start the actual post. I will give some tips on how I personally relax as I know this time of year can be stressful. Whether you are currently or have done exams, or deciding what to do in the next stage. Or you know, you might just be stressed for no reason.

Some tips on how to help you relax -

1. Stop what you are doing and do something you love.
For example if you are getting stressed with homework or a parent. Just have a break. Its okay to have breaks. Obviously if this is for homework, just have a little break (half an hour maybe) and then return back to it in a better mood and you will get it done quicker. However if this applies to a person, friend or family member. Just simply tell them that you need a break because you are stressed and that you will return when you feel better. This could take a while so don't feel bad. I normally feel guilty for just being stressed at my mum but it is important that you don't stress too much, you have to think of yourself too after all. For me I love doing my makeup so this is something that I would do. Maybe if I'm really stressed I will do something else because I wouldn't want to get more stressed from eyeliner:). I also like shopping so this would be a good one as you get to go out, away from people (if alone obviously) and have some time to yourself. Also if its something you like to do it helps anyway. Just find what you enjoy and do exactly that - other than bad things like drugs and stuff duhh.

2. Have a relaxing bath.
I know this works for many women and men. Have a bath bomb, music/film and candles and you're good to go. However if you are like me, and have only a shower then here's an alternative. Have a nice long warm/hot shower - don't burn yourself haha! This is still calming, the only difference is you're stood up. To pamper yourself, get some fancy as hell creams, scrubs etc and use them. Don't forget you can still listen to music and have a sing song! But I do recommend that you don't watch a film because you may not be able to hear it as well. When you get out, moisturise, have a face mask, paint your nails and some nice new clean PJ's and you're good to go.

3. Sleep.
This is kind of a joke but kind of isn't... I mean I love naps. If I don't answer a phone call or text (if I get any haha) I will 98.99% be asleep. Although it's a hit or miss whether you will wake up in a better mood or a bad one. Personally I found that if I nap and wake up on my own and stay on my own for ten minutes after I wake up, I stay in a nice fresh good mood. And if someone wakes me up and constantly nags I will immediately go in another bad mood. Which is bound to happen lets be honest. So maybe or maybe not do this.

4. Read.
Or listen to music which ever suits you best. You could do both, I know some people like o listen to soft music while reading and I quite like to myself. But if you just fancy a sing-song or a little dance then I wouldn't have so soft of music playing. I do recommend reading the girl on the train. I finished this a while ago and it's so good! Even now I get excited and want to tell everyone how its ends. A very good purchase.

5. Have a full on movie session/day.
This is simple really, get some tasty snacks (lots of) and snuggle up in a blanket, either on your sofa or in bed, and watch a film. This could be an all-time favourite or a new one that you want to try. Either works as you can imagine. You could also have a face mask on or paint your nails, however you would have to pause the film to take off your face mask. But I do highly recommend this one. If you can afford it (because its hella expensive) you could go to the cinema - on your own or with a friend. I know that a few great films are being released soon. I really recommend 'Me Before You'.

6. Engage in small acts of kindness.
This could be just giving someone a hug to buying someone's lunch. You could buy someone some flowers or help someone carry something that they are struggling with. Anything will work, I guarantee. You will also help the world be a better place.

That's about all the tips I have from personal experience, and I hope they help you in some way shape or form.
Also if you have any suggestions for future posts let me know, so I can do them for you guys.

Have an amazing week doing whatever it is.

Finishing college and setting a date.

Hey guys,

This is going to be a chilled post as I am hoping to pre-write some this week. I love to do post that I feel like doing on the day, mainly because this is just my style, however because I have time off now I would just like to make the most of it. Which I say now but we all know I will end up sneaking biscuits into my room and binge watching a whole new series on Netflix. I just have that frame of mind where I don't want to waste my life away. I want to go on more trips and such with friends and family to make use of my days. So basically I want my posts to be ready so I know that I am not letting you down. Glad that's sorted. (Also this may not last long because, well... its me.)

Onto the little catch-up part. I have finished college. WHAT?! I mean, I have to go back tomorrow to give a piece of work that wouldn't upload. I could've taken it on Friday because I was off then too but I had like ten minutes before I was meant to be going out so yeah. Didn't happen. Then apart from that we have a day where we just say goodbye and celebrate and such but I think that's in a couple of weeks. So yeah, finished. But honestly I don't want to leave the course. Everyone on the course is so nice and the tutors are also so lovely so I don't want to leave them haha. I'm pretty sure I have mentioned this before so I shall carry on. Because I am only 17, I have to stay in education for another year. To be honest I'm glad because I still have no idea what I want to do. Oh well. I'm thinking of doing art next year and I have my interview but I still don't know ahhhh.

But today I went to another wedding fair/open day and it was so lovely there. Even though I was sick this morning, I made sure I was okay to go because I was so excited to see it. Mainly because I know Sam and lee have their hearts set on it so its only fair that I see it! Today they actually set a date for October and its so weird. I can't even explain it. Just because it seems like they have been together for a while - like I am so used to lee being part of the family. Now my big sister is getting married and its so nice. I am talking nonsense but its nice to see them both happy and finally (took you long enough lee!) getting married.
Obviously I took some photos, not as many as the first wedding fair but enough. So I will include some below - just my favourites.

I don't really know what else to say really. I think I will just leave it here. Next week will be better and ready, I may post it a bit earlier in the day so be warned. So until I do another catch-up - which lets face it, wont be long.
