Dealing with Psoriasis?!

Hey guys, so this is going to be more of an advice post for EVERYONE.. Even me!
Before I get Into my blog post, I will say what it is and, cures and things like that.

'Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales.'

The most common places to have the condition are the elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. However it can appear anywhere! Some people can get it really bad which can Intefear with their everyday life and some people can have it so it's just red and sore. On the NHS website is says 'Psoriasis affects around 2% of people in the UK. It can start at any age, but most often develops in adults under 35 years old.' I'm only 16 but I started to develop it at 14/15. But even some people can be born with it..It is a long-lasting disease (or condition as I like to say), which can have periods where there are a lot of symptoms then followed by bearly any symptoms what so ever.

Like I said I'm now 16. I have it on my scalp which is in terrible condition, on my elbows, my ears, one of my knees and it is developing on my shoulder. It seems to be getting worse and worse even though I have prescribed creams and liquids. I think I'm going to have to see a skin specialist as my head it really bad. Hopefully they don't make me shave my hair off as it is very long! But if you are someone who thinks that you are developing psoriasis, i found out that rubbing in baby oil after your shower while you are still wet can help calm it until a certain extent. Whether this was just for my skin I'm not sure, but you could always try it.

I used to only have it on my scalp in a small area about 2cm wide. Then a few months later it is spreading all over my scalp. Scary huh? Anyway, in year 10 I was really worried about showing it. It was quite hidden at the start but as it progressed it came slightly out of my hair line and - I think - became obvious. I didn't used to have my hair up unless I had pe, sometimes if I was in a period with bad symptoms I would just do a side plait/braid to keep it hidden. But why? Why should any of us with this condition or any condition, be ashamed? It's who we are and it was obviously meant to be. I've been told a few people I know have it but that was only when I opened up about it and realised there's more of you out there😊

Unfortunately there's no cure to psoriasis which kind of sucks.. But there are ways of controlling it such as creams, liquids and even shampoos! I recommend going to a GP if you think you have psoriasis as then they can help you control it as soon as. That way I think it will stay minimal.

But I want to know, if any of you reading this have or know any one who has psoriasis to comment how you cope and share your thoughts as I do read every comment. There may not be many of you now but If my blog succeeds, hello future readers.

If anyone wants another detailed version or if you have any questions let me know in the comments and I will certainly write another!

Adios amigos!xo
